Downtown Seattle

We also made a stop at downtown Seattle and visited the Public Market at Pike's Place and watched the flying fish at the fish market, then chowed down on fish and chips.

Wait a minute . . . wasn't the water line up to here?

A group of us took a side trip to the Chittenden Locks that connect Lake Union in Seattle with the open seas. It was fascinating to watch the boats change levels.

What kind of ferry is this?

Lia looked under every cushion on the ferry, but was puzzled when she couldn't find any money. She had always heard the tooth ferry leaves money under your pillow.

A calming influence.

It was Anna that suggested that everyone just remain calm and in time they would all have an opportunity to cross the log.

Can you read lips?

Are Rich, Joe, and Janet out of sync? Let's assume for example they are singing the alphabet song. It seems clear that Rich would be on "a", while Joey is either on "i" or "r", and Janet has to be on "e". Do we have someone with the necessary skills that could help verify their synchronization?

Nerd alert!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this guy really hiking with a pen neatly tucked into his shirt pocket? And what's that other thing in his pocket, with the top barely visible? Could it be a calculator? Someone needs to search him for extra paper, pencils, and erasers. Is the hot chick following him or about to pass him by?

What a minute, isn't that the same . . .

As they finally broke clear of the underbrush Melanie suddenly notices the same long log they crossed when they first discovered they were lost.

A) Hiding from his parole officer.
B) Subtly displaying his gang sign.
D) Watching a snake.
E) Counting to 100 because he is playing hide-and-go-seek and he is "it."

What if I forgot.

Daniel painfully ponders his college applications - did he mail them before he left or are they still sitting on the lamp stand by the door? At least two of them had to be post marked on or before July 24th.

d[arctan u]/dx = u'/(1 + u*u)

You have to wonder what's going on in the mind of a mathematician when he is flying a kite. Is he studying relationships of wind vectors with the angle of his kite, testing a new theorem, solving related rate problems, wondering at what point the change in rate of the wind will produce the maximum climb for his kite, or just wondering what will be served for dessert.

Well grounded.

Pictures by Jonathan Clare

In an effort to properly align their polarities, adjust their set points, enhance their auras, and foster their etheric mental, and emotional emanations; Amara, Brielle, and Lia positioned themselves close to mother earth. Lia's not sure it's working.

Always one trouble maker in the lot.

With one person who refuses to fold his arms, Craig is not put'n up with it. He called in for reinforcements. Let's send this guy home, he has lost his privileges.

Hey! Watch out!

Craig, Shelley, and Chantal have now idea of what's coming at them from behind. Are they about to become foliage?

So that's what's been going on.

Amara fills Craig and Chantal in on what Tyer and Jacob have been up to. Gretchen finds this all very interesting.

Where's Waldo?

Can you find Jonathan in this picture?

Thursday, September 11, 2008

It's a bird, a plane, or a Clare?

Is this an actual Jonathan sighting or just another Jonathan look-a-like.

Careful what you say.

Ethan wisely holds his lip to keep from saying something he might regret.

I would have never guessed that thing would work.

Matthew watches with amazement and Steve fumbles with his camera as Daniel shoots off the ground with his experimental rocket pack that he designed after the one he saw in the Kung Fu Panda movie. There was a frightening moment when it looked like he might collide with Jonathan who was parasailing in the same air space.

Taking hard time easy.

Here we have Anna in the prison yard making the best of doing hard time by flying a kite. In eight short months she will be up for parole. I understand she now sports an encrypted tattoo of her prison gang, "The Banana Fish". Notice the yellow kite string handle - all part of the gangs decor.

Time for a snack.

Picture by Jonathan Clare In spite of the phenomenal shelf life of potato chips, they just don't seem to keep well in a child's pocket.

A reaction to a close encounter.

After a brush with a ferocious bear that finally got sick of listening to the Brickman and wandered off, Tyler and Alec were amused; however; Jacob was still trying to make sense of what the Brickman said. Brielle wondered why the bear smelled so bad.

Not to worry.

Joe and Anna never once concerned themselves with the fact that everyone else was walking in the opposite direction.
