Washington State Ferries: Proper Etiquette

You'll be riding ferries so let's discuss proper ferry etiquette.

Do not try to drive your car onto the ferry when it is in this position! Unless, of course, you can get up enough speed to jump the gap between the landing dock and the receiving end of the boat. Please wait until the person wearing the bright WSF vest directs you to start your engine and proceed. It's considered proper courtesy not to run him over as you pass by. Once boarded you'll want to set your emergency break and turn off your car alarm. Everyone hates it when a loose car, with it's alarm blaring, rolls back and forth with the waves, banging into the other cars . It's just bad form.

You also don't want to fall asleep in your car and fail to get off, like I did. Very embarassing!
